I really think we, and when I say we, I'm thinking about organizing spaces.

And specifically, actually, I would think about queer, trans, racialized, poor, migrant folks who are at the forefront of organizing spaces and movements.

We come together because it's out of our survival.

It's urgent.

We need to organize. And then we don't

have any relational scaffolding for the most intimate parts of our lives. We don't. And so coming

into organizing spaces with no transformation, you know, conflict transformation skills.

And so I realize it's not that we lack strategy that make us fail. It's the lack of relational capacity and skills that make us

fail. We can't deal with conflicts. We can't deal with, I don't agree. For a lot of us, we come into the spaces

thinking, hoping for so much, we're thinking, okay, this is horrible outside, but maybe in this

little corner, late on the Thursday night, I'm going to be in a space where people are not

sexist, racist, transphobic, fatphobic, fanphobic, you know, like all the things.

And you realize, yes, we are, actually.

The disappointment is huge.

And trust me, I understand that, you know.

There was really this realization for me of so much of the work is urgent and I see it.

And also maybe abolition is really the work of becoming a death dula for the empire within,

as well as holding space for the other person next to you who's also trying to

burn down the empire inside of them.
