Hold up. Hold up now. Just everyone wait a second. Let's talk this through.

So Brent Venables, two years in at Oklahoma, with a ton of new spending on the horizon, might I add, is getting a significant

raise and a contract extension, huh? Huh? I could say it either way. Well, one thing I've learned,

Oklahoma, you've earned the benefit of the doubt as an athletic

department. You've been ahead of the curve, multiple sports, not just football. So I'm going to,

I'm going to accept that this makes sense. I don't know what the market was out there. I don't know

who was trying to lure Brent and Venables away. I don't know who you were bidding against, per se.

This seems like an old school contract extension, which is the

kind where money's not real. And so in the past, the AD and the agent high five each other at about

10.30 in the morning, sign it off and then they go eat lunch together. But maybe there are things I don't

know. Or maybe Brent Venables is just that dude.

And you've figured it out and you've looked around and said the results will come. But in the meantime, we've got to lock our guy down. He's done what we asked him to do. And that's all you can ask of a guy. And so if that's the case, that's the case. This is the late kick extra podcast. I opened recording in a stream of consciousness. And so in lieu of deleting that,

I'm just letting you into the way my brain works. That's how my brain works when they counted down the 3-2-1. I was reading the headline and it's sort of breaking as we're recording here this

I already gave you my thoughts there. This is mailbag only. This is college football only.

I'm told the Boston Celtics just won the NBA title. I can't confirm it because we don't talk

NBA on this show, nor do we talk any other sport. But if it's college football or maybe a little
