Summary

In this episode, Hannah’s joined by Karen Hobbs, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer when she was 24 and went through a radical trachelectomy to have her cervix removed. Karen shares the process of diagnosis through to treatment, and how you can possibly try and process finding out you have cancer. They talk about the anatomy and role of the cervix, and whether the procedure affected Karen’s sex life or fertility. Finally, Karen discusses the stigma around gynae cancers and whether we should have smear tests earlier.

1:18.8	the fact that I'm due my next cervical smear because I had my first one when I got the letter
1:23.3	just before I turned 25 and four days after recording this episode, lo and behold, there was my letter
1:31.9	asking me to come in for my second cervical screening. I'm currently recording this whilst I'm in
1:37.9	New York but be sure listeners, as soon as I get home, I will be booking that appointment. It is so
1:43.5	important to attend your cervical smith.
1:47.2	Karen is a comedian. So even though we're talking about cancer in this episode, I have to say,
