As we all know, Charles Grant is both energetic and youthful, but still I was a little surprised

when he asked me some time ago to host the 24th birthday. I misunderstood the request. It wasn't

a personal one. It was, of course, to host the Centre for

European Reforms 24th birthday celebration. The embassy and the wider Irish diplomatic network

have enjoyed a strong relationship with the CER throughout its history, so we are delighted to again host this event

in the company of friends, colleagues and admirers. Since its foundation in London, the Centre
