0:56.7 | Surprisingly, they had a lot of savings from the COVID period. |
1:02.7 | They've spent that down, but they've gotten used to buying things. |
1:07.6 | So now they're borrowing money in addition. |
1:14.9 | And then there was a special stimulus program. |
1:21.3 | This one not passed by the government, but it was the increase in the stock market. |
1:31.8 | What I've found over my career is that people don't spend a set percentage of their net income. |
1:37.9 | They do spend a set percentage of their net worth. |
1:44.0 | So when the stock market goes up to the extent that people have an exposure, they'll spend more money. |
1:47.0 | And that's another shot in the arm. |
1:50.0 | What we are seeing because of the higher Fed interest rates is the rate of growth in our companies, |
1:58.0 | which are pretty widely held. |
