Summary

Brian Wampler is the CEO of Wampler Pedals. He is a guitar player, a "gear nut" and most importantly is helping create some of the world’s best guitar tones. This one is special for me since I've played guitar since I was 11 and I am quite a gear head, as well. I don't play in a band anymore but still love chatting about and playing guitar. In this episode we chat about: how Wampler pedals started, the ups and downs of running a business, the importance of creating content on YouTube and Facebook to grow a community passionate about your product, the $4,000 guitar pedal and much more.

Well, I was just a boy and played guitar and was very bored. Not very bored, but I was

0:19.0

working a job that I hated. And in my spare time, I like to do nerdy things, like take apart guitar pedals and see if I can

0:26.4

make them sound better.

0:27.8

So I started doing that.

0:29.4

At the time, I was trying to be like the professional guitar player, right?

I was going to, actually, to Nashville, where you used to live, and playing on Broadway, and people were checking out the stuff I was using to actually to Nashville, we used to live, and playing on Broadway and people

0:39.0

were checking out the stuff I was using and saying, you know, let me borrow that, you

0:44.3

know, I'm going to buy that.

0:45.3

So it's like selling one off here, one off there, and then selling eBay.

0:48.5

At one point, I actually went to a Brad Paisley concert, or early on, walked up to the stage.

0:55.1

My wife at the time, my son's mom, he, she was actually mad because I was going to do this.

1:02.1

So I walked up to the stage, through the pedal at Brad Paisley.

1:05.8

Is there, is there video proof of this?

1:08.1

This was a long time ago.

1:10.1

Okay, okay. You know, I'm an old man.

1:12.5

This is amazing. So this is before iPhones. I mean, there's no, there's no really good way to get

1:18.2

footage. But I literally threw the pedal on stage towards Brad Paisley. He looked at the pedal,

1:24.2

looked at this crazy guy that was, you know, throwing an object at him

1:29.3

and motioned over his tech to come and get it. And so I found out through, you know, like, various ways, like, who's the guitar tech? How do I possibly see if Brad's going to play this pedal?

1:41.3

So I found out the guitar tech was, found out how to get a hold of them.
