Saline has been uncharacteristically out of the spotlight, battling a terrifying disease.

She began quietly experiencing mysterious symptoms affecting both her body and her voice 17 years ago.

Finally, after more than a decade of medical evaluations, she was diagnosed with stiffiff Person Syndrome, a rare autoimmune neurological disorder.

Stiff Person Syndrome or SPS can cause slurred speech, double vision, painful muscle contractions, and stiffness so severe

patients can lose the ability to walk.

For Saline, SPS has been at times debilitating. Fearful she may never return to the stage or to her beloved fans,

Saline spent the last handful of years fighting for her life and fighting for her voice.

Today with intense physical therapy, vocal

rehabilitation, medication, and of course the love and support of her

family and fans, Saline says the show will go on. I had the opportunity to sit down with

Saline one-on-one for an NBC News exclusive interview. She opens up about

her health, the impact of SPS on her life, and where she's finding hope.
