We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the men and women who have gone before us,

who have lived the life, who have decided that it was worth giving their life so that their fellow country, men and women

could be free in the face of tyranny or hatred or pure evil, Nazi Germany, communism,

Islamic terrorists. Today is Memorial Day and I am just grateful. I had two uncles who

served in World War II. Every year,

they would go to the parade in Fairfield, Connecticut, and celebrate Memorial Day. They saw some of the

worst combat man ever saw them. They seldom talked about it. But on Memorial Day, I would sit next

them as they would stand at the parade and salute those who went across the line and the parade.

And occasionally they get tears in their eyes.
