Summary

Many of us have our own personalized, specific goals when it comes to our money, so it’s no surprise that we also have many different views of what financial independence means to each of us. Since tomorrow is the 4th of July, we wanted to take a moment and reflect on how our views of financial independence have changed over the years. We also posted this question in the How To Money Facebook group, and we look forward to digging into and sharing your wisdom regarding what financial freedom means to you! Just like we often discuss regarding knowing the ‘why’ behind our money, when we’re able to identify why it is we’re seeking after financial freedom, we can endure almost any ‘how.’ Happy 4th!

During this episode we each enjoyed an Order of Magnitude by Edmund’s Oast which you can find on Untappd. A big thanks to Andrew in South Carolina for donating this amazing beer to the show! And if you enjoyed this episode, be sure to subscribe and give us a quick review in Apple Podcasts, Castbox, or wherever you get your podcasts- we’d love to hear from you.

Yeah Joel this episode is coming out July 3rd. It's almost the 4th of July and I don't

0:31.2

know if you remember last year we kind of took July 4th off because we did a shortened

0:35.1

episode. You know it's good to have a break. This episode isn't going to be shortened

0:38.5

like that last one but it is good for us to talk about financial independence what it means

0:42.8

to us as individuals and I'm excited to hear from a lot of our listeners as well not

0:47.3

actually in audio format but we do have a bunch of comments that our listeners wrote

0:50.8

in on our Facebook group. So if you haven't been there to check that out just go to Facebook

0:55.1

and search how to money. We would love for you to be part of that group. You know what?

0:59.4

I would love to be more part of that group. You would suck in a little bit you know but that's

1:03.6

okay we've got a lot going on a lot of our plate. But you know what the cool thing is I think

1:07.6

we've seen we've got what 3500 members now and people wow I know right people are helping

1:12.8

us each other out constantly. So I like to be in there as much as possible but just like

1:17.0

you like it's not possible for us to be in there even every day. It's just really cool

1:20.8

that folks are helping each other out. It's not us giving all the answers. The show really

1:24.7

is about the community and I feel like in the Facebook group and in the Askhtm episodes

1:28.6

that's where we really start to see and feel the community vibe of the show. And this

1:33.2

episode is going to have some of that same stuff too in our last segment we are going to

1:37.2

get to what financial independence means to people that actually listen to the show. And

1:42.2

there are a lot of diverse viewpoints Matt and I know your view of financial independence

1:46.7

has changed over time. My view of financial independence has changed over time. And so
