Summary
This is a special episode of the Flipped Lifestyle podcast because it's the 8-year quit-iversary of when Shane and Jocelyn Sams quit their jobs to go full-time in our online businesses.
On this podcast, Shane interviews Jocelyn to ask her some questions about what she's learned in those 8 years, along with what decisions have helped to steer the business into what it is today.
Shane and Jocelyn share the story of what led them into online business, as well as what they did on the first day that they worked from home and became their own bosses.
They talk about the challenges of running a business during a pandemic and how thankful they are to have an online business when so many businesses were shutting down around the world.
Running an online business enabled Shane and Jocelyn to continue to serve the members of the Flipped Lifestyle community and to watch those members succeed during tough times.
Shane and Jocelyn also discuss Life Surge, a huge new opportunity and addition to their business plans. They will be speaking on many stages in the near future, which will grow the membership, and S&J will be expanding their team to take this big next step.
You'll also hear about the current Flipped Lifestyle team and the plans to expand it and some of our favorite memberships and success stories from the community!

| 0:14.8 | But my guest today is none other than my amazing, wise, beautiful, smarter than me, wife, Jocelyn Sam's. Jocelyn is coming back on the podcast |
| 0:23.1 | today to help me celebrate our eight-year anniversary from the day we quit our jobs. On September 27, 2013, |
| 0:31.5 | we spent the day at home, working at home. That was our first day as entrepreneurs. It was amazing. We were school teachers and we had planned it so we would actually miss a PD. We put in our two week notice. We were like, if we can just circle this date, we won't have to sit through eight hours of training. Instead, we stayed at the house. I remember sitting on the couch. We had on our robes. I was drinking a coffee. Jocelyn had a tea. We kind of hung out together and made plans for the day. |
| 0:54.8 | And then about 10 or 11 o'clock, Jocelyn said, I'm going to get a blank and go lay out in the |

| 1:26.0 | was an elementary school librarian. |
| 1:27.8 | We were living that American dream, baby. We were living paycheck to paycheck, but we got paid |
| 1:32.0 | every other Friday, but it ran out every other Thursday. Have you ever had a paycheck like that? |
| 1:36.6 | We were broke, y'all. We only made about $2,500 a piece a month as school teachers in southeast |
| 1:42.5 | Kentucky. But we were living that good enough life, |
| 1:45.0 | you know, two cars, two kids, had a mortgage, lived in a nice little cookie cutter neighborhood, |
| 1:49.8 | and we were on that railroad track to retirement. But then one morning, I took my son to daycare, |
| 1:54.6 | like a lot of parents, we had to have our kids in daycare during the day so we could work. |
| 1:58.0 | My son went to a facility for kids that were over two years old. My daughter went to another building that was exclusively for kids who were under two. So Jocelyn would drop off Anna Joe and I would drop off Isaac every single morning. And one morning when I was trying to drop off Isaac, he was fighting me in his car seat and he wouldn't let me take him in the daycare center. And he kept saying, |
