Summary
10 years in and still uncensored
In this special 10-year anniversary episode, Sue and Ann reflect on a decade of Therapist Uncensored – how it began, how it’s changed, and how the relationships formed have deepened along the way. They share candidly about the influence from our listeners in keeping them curious, accountable, and grounded, as well as the ways their own thinking has evolved through conversations with leading experts and thoughtful audience feedback. Together they explore the joys and tensions of teaching in the mental health space, including the importance of humility, questioning long-held assumptions, and recognizing the limits of any single perspective. This episode is both a celebration and a recommitment – to inclusivity, to amplifying diverse voices, and to ongoing learning in a field that is constantly evolving. And above all, it’s a heartfelt thank-you to the community that has made the last ten years possible.
“The podcast itself was going to be this incredible learning machine for us…and there were times we had to move our butts from expert to ignorant.”

| 0:00.0 | To be in a secure related place is not to feel secure. |
| 0:07.1 | It is to be able to be curious and discerning and to be able to challenge ourselves to feel discomfort and not disappear. |
| 0:16.3 | And that's been a spiral, right? |
| 0:18.0 | Like we're talking about like, and then we got to this place and then we, and this was |
| 0:21.2 | not a linear evolution by any stretch, lots of flips, arguments, you know, debates, growth. And so I think |
| 0:30.7 | we're just invading ourselves to reflect on that with everybody and to be transparent about our process and invite everyone |
| 0:39.8 | else into it. So feeling discomfort, if anything you've heard today brought you discomfort, |
| 0:45.1 | but to stay in that and to not hear it as judgment, but to hear it that we're in there with |
| 0:49.6 | you and that the questions are not devaluing anything, certainly not psychology. I feel such gratitude |
| 0:56.7 | for our field right now. I feel like that we're going to be a grounding force therapist out there |
| 1:03.5 | all over are grounding forces for the chaos that's around that you're speaking of, and that we all need |
| 1:09.6 | as therapist or as active listeners or we need to |
| 1:14.3 | feel secure in ourselves by also having confidence that we're in all this community together |
| 1:19.5 | and that we can look at ourselves with care and love and not shame and judgment. |
| 1:24.8 | So I hope that's the message we're giving, that this has been our journey |
| 1:28.5 | and we're still there and that we can question it and feel good about questioning it and still |
| 1:33.1 | hold high value. Welcome to Therapist Uncensored. Building on decades of professional experience, |
| 1:40.6 | this podcast tackles neurobiology, modern attachment, and more in an honest way that's |

| 1:57.3 | Hey, you guys, while we know relationships are wonderful, they are also really hard. Many of us believe |
| 2:04.4 | that they shouldn't be, that if we have good connection and good communication, things will just go |
| 2:09.1 | smoothly. But it's really that belief that can make us feel stubborn and even more hopeless. |
