Good morning, everyone. I'm Kate Baldwin. It's Thursday, April 9th. Here are the five things you need to know to start your day.

Number one, the ceasefire. Both the United States and Iran claim that the ceasefire is holding,

though it is evident that it is fragile and hanging by a thread, as they now enter just the second full day since it was announced and Iran is already claiming that three parts of the agreement have been violated and the Strait of Hormuz remains essentially paralyzed.

One big focus today, Lebanon. Iran and Pakistan insist that Lebanon is part of the ceasefire deal.

But the U.S. and Israel claim that the agreement does not cover Hezbollah in Lebanon.

And Israel just conducted a massive wave of new strikes there.

Yeah, President Trump just posted a new threat toward Iran overnight, claiming that U.S.

Now talks to solidify an actual deal to end the war are expected to begin in Pakistan on Friday.
