Bill Texts : A joint resolution to authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant and its associated forces (Lindsay Graham's AUMF) "The President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force in order to defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, its associated forces, organizations, and persons, and any successor organizations." President has to submit a report to Congress every 60 days. "The President is authorized, subject to the limitations in subsection (c), to use the Armed Forces of the United States as the President determines to be necessary and appropriate against ISIL or associated persons or forces as defined in section 5." (c) "The authority granted... does not authorize the use of the United States Armed Forces in enduring offensive ground combat operations." Section 5: "The term "associated persons or forces" means individuals and organizations fighting for, on behalf of, or alongside ISIL or any closely-related successor entity in hostilities agains the United States or its coalition partners" Duration: "This authorization for the use of military force shall terminate three years after the date of the enactment of this joint resolution, unless reauthorized." Repeal: "The Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 is hereby repealed." "The President is authorized to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determines planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored such organizations or persons, in order to prevent any future acts of international terrorism against the United States by such nations, organizations, or persons." "The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq and enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Iraq." 0:35.8	host Jennifer Briny. So many of you are probably expecting the long-awaited
0:39.8	episode about election ballot access for independence and that episode is coming soon I
0:44.2	promise but I had to call an audible this week and the reason is because there is a
0:48.6	very dangerous bill that is moving through the legislative process in a very shady way.
0:54.0	And even though it hasn't yet passed one of the chambers of Congress, as most bills discussed
0:58.4	on Congressional DISH do, I feel the need to tell you about this one right now because this particular piece of legislation
1:04.4	is so reckless and so dangerous and so literally lethal that I had to stop everything and create
1:10.1	an episode about it right away.
1:11.8	I honestly think that this is the worst piece of
1:13.9	legislation that I've ever seen and longtime listeners know that's saying a lot.
1:18.8	So I'm recording this episode on Thursday January 28 28th, and last weekend there was a huge
1:24.4	snowstorm that hit Washington, D.C. and a bunch of other cities up and down the East Coast.
1:29.1	Now the weather models were consistent a week before the storm saying that DC in particular was going to
1:34.7	get clobbered and the models were right Washington DC in many spots got over two feet
1:39.0	of snow and so the storm started on Friday January 22 22nd, and as you might expect, most people in Washington,
1:45.3	D.C. and in a large majority of the country were distracted the week prior to it by this huge
1:51.5	storm that dumped snow on over 80 million Americans.
