Summary

President Biden signed an executive order earlier today -- aimed at protecting access to abortion. This -- as he faces mounting pressure from fellow Democrats to be more forceful on the subject after the Supreme Court ended a constitutional right to the procedure two weeks ago. Meanwhile, Pat Cipollone, who served as White House counsel under former President Donald Trump, has reached an agreement to appear Friday before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol. During a campaign speech Friday, Japan's former Prime Minister was shot and airlifted to a hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries. The community of Highland Park, IL continues to mourn after this weekend's Fourth of July shooting. Late Friday, it was announced that Elon Musk will be terminating his 44-billion-dollar bid to buy Twitter. Plus, an exclusive interview with Vice President Kamala Harris about the economy, gun violence, and abortion ahead of the midterm elections. These stories and more on the CBS Evening News with Norah O'Donnell. CBS's Jericka Duncan guest anchors tonight's broadcast.
