And good evening. We begin with your money tonight. President Trump, in a rare retreat, is putting a controversial $1.8 billion pot of taxpayer dollars on ice.

That news breaking late today. The money, the result of an extraordinary settlement between the president and his own IRS

after the leak of his tax returns, was billed by the White House as a way to compensate

anyone politically prosecuted by the Biden administration.

Democrats, though, attacked it as a slush fund for the president's friends, even the rioters

of January 6th, and Republicans increasingly
