| 0:00.0 | Welcome back to Coffee Break Spanish. Now when we first recorded lesson 10 it was a week before Christmas and I have to say it doesn't feel particularly Christmasy right here because it's the middle of the summer and we are sitting at the harbor in Mallorca, in Balmare Mallorca, button and the list is always useful to pick up some interesting vocabulary and you'll be doing that in this episode. |
| 0:29.8 | Where you'll be learning a song and some Christmas words and phrases. |
| 0:34.6 | What would you do? |
| 0:41.4 | Okay so today's show is not so much about learning new phrases in Spanish although we will be learning some words and phrases associated with Christmas. |
| 0:49.4 | It's more about covering some cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world. |
| 0:54.2 | As you heard earlier in today's show we've got some interviews with a Mexican person and a Spanish person who will be telling us a little about how they celebrate Christmas and the New Year. |
| 1:05.0 | The first thing that we've got to learn though is how to talk about Christmas. Christmas in Spanish is Navidad. |
| 1:13.0 | Navidad. |
| 1:17.0 | Navidad is the word for Christmas itself and in actual fact the Christmas season in Spanish is called Navidades. |
| 1:26.2 | Navidades. Navidades. Navidades. |
| 1:30.7 | Navidades is literally the plural version of the word Navidad so it's really like saying Christmasy's Navidades. |
| 1:39.2 | But it's really used for the Christmas season. Navidades is really everything from the middle of December right through into the New Year. |
| 1:48.0 | To say happy Christmas is a phrase that will come across maybe in previous lessons in preparation for this edition. |
| 1:54.2 | Happy Christmas is Feliz Navidad. |
| 2:07.0 | And if you're learning Latin American Spanish you would be seeing something like Feliz Navidad. |
| 2:12.9 | Feliz Navidad. |
| 2:14.5 | Okay we'll hear our Mexican friends saying that later on. |
| 2:18.4 | Another phrase that's useful to know at this time of the year is Perrospero Agno Nuevo. |
| 2:25.8 | Let's try splitting that up into the three separate words. |
| 2:29.0 | Prospero. |
| 2:31.0 | Prospero. |
| 2:33.0 | Prospero. |
