Sajah Popham is the author of Evolutionary Herbalism and the founder of the School of Evolutionary Herbalism, where he trains herbalists in a holistic system of plant medicine that encompasses clinical Western herbalism, medical astrology, Ayurveda, and spagyric alchemy.
His mission is to develop a comprehensive approach that balances the science and spirituality of plant medicine, focusing on using plants to heal and rejuvenate the body, clarify the mind, open the heart, and support the development of the soul. This is only achieved through understanding and working with the chemical, energetic, and spiritual properties of the plants. | 1:00.5 | pair of herbs as a combination of really the archetypal stimulant and the archetypal relaxant. |

| 1:13.7 | because these are not necessarily terms that you hear used too much in modern herbal medicine. |

| 1:30.9 | herbal medicine quite a bit. And these are really kind of coming down to really their fundamental |
| 1:36.3 | herbal actions, which you can see almost in this triad of, uh, stimulant, relaxant, and tonic. |

| 1:50.9 | And I think the dynamic of stimulant, tonic is very similar, actually, to other triad |
| 1:58.9 | patterns such as vatapitakha and ayurveda or sulfur mercury and salt in the alchemical tradition cardinal mutable fixed in astrology |
| 2:08.6 | stimulant relaxant and tonic these are really archetypal forces um on a grand scale but i think they also |
| 2:16.3 | represent universal qualities in medicinal plants. |
| 2:21.0 | And this is, requires a little bit of defining because oftentimes when we hear the word |
| 2:27.0 | stimulant and relaxant, we immediately think they're opposites, right? |
