And we talk about a 44-year journey from a high school coach in upstate New York through every level

of NCAA, junior college, division 3, 2, and 1, a dozen years at the University of Michigan,

where he led the Wolverines to two final fours and NCAA championship game.

And now at 66 years old, the NBA. the Wolverines to two final fours, an NCAA championship game.

And now it's 66 years old, the NBA.

A great visit with one of his generation's great coaches, John Beline.

Training camp practice is over for the Cavs, John.

So I'm guessing you've got some recruits to call, right?

Compliance, meeting with compliance, academic people. What has it been like now that the ball's bouncing, you're in the gym with your players, and you're closer to what, you know,

it's going to start feeling like day to day here? Yeah, I think that I'm working the same amount of hours, but it's a different

hours and it's all basketball, and I've really been able to concentrate.

And I think the other thing, what was that happened is when we started in October,

you don't go through a September like you usually go through, where you're in a hotel room,

you know, four days a week, then you're hosting recruits on weekends. You do have a little bit time

to get charged up for the season. And that was attracted to me in this change in lifestyle.

I know it's 82 games, but it's probably only 60 practices, right? And instead of, you know,

37 games and 125 practices. And then it's,

well, as soon as the year got over last year, we lost in Sweet 16. I went on the road for like

28 out of 30 days. I was on the road, you know, just trying to figure out where, what's the next

home I needed to get into. So that college game's been so good to me.

I'm not complaining about one bit.
