And boy, what a remarkable day.

Several new studies and models now suggest that if Donald Trump had

simply declared a national state of emergency largely shutting down the

country a few weeks earlier than he actually did that tens of thousands perhaps a majority of the people who

have died would not have died. I mean he certainly had the information available

to him. Back in November the federal government was warning Israel

that this was coming. In December they were producing reports and sending them to the

White House in January he was getting explicit warnings and in fact Peter Navarro, his parade advisor, sent him a rather

detailed outline of exactly what was going to happen.

But the problem is that Donald Trump doesn't read.

There's a piece in the New York Times about this today,

the frustrations that the people in the intelligence community

have in briefing him.

He won't read briefings.

He will look at pictures.

He likes satellite images. He'll look at charts and graphs, but he doesn't have the mental capacity to translate them into meaning.

The stuff that is actually consequential.
