Good morning. It is Sunday, April the 4th. I'm Allie Velsche, and we begin the spring morning on a good note.

For the first time ever, more than 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in a single day in the United States.

In total, more than 104 million Americans have received at least one vaccine dose. That's more than 31%

of the total population. 18% of the population is fully vaccinated. Let's keep the good news train

running this Sunday morning. The U.S. added 916,000 new jobs in March, nearly doubling the amount of jobs added in February, and the

unemployment rate dropped to 6%. But there is some not so good news. The country is still down

9.5 million jobs since the start of the pandemic, and the recent gains have come at a cost

because there's a new surge of COVID-19 in much of the country.

Eleven states have case increases of at least 10% in the last two weeks.

More than a dozen have had major increases of at least 25%.

Cases in Michigan have spiked a colossal 127% over the past two weeks, which Dr. Irwin

Redlander told me on yesterday's show could be due to

the new variant COVID-19 mutations in addition to more relaxed attitudes about pandemic

precautions. Also, in my conversation with Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, he warned about the

confluence of the growing economy and the pandemic.

Certainly the numbers today were encouraging 6% unemployment rate, 916,000 new jobs in America.
