A shooter opened fire on children who went to a Catholic school in Minneapolis as they were

attending their first mass of the school year.

An eight-year-old and a 10-year-old were killed.

17 other people were hurt, including 14 other children.

Federal officials say the attacker was a 23-year-old transgender woman who died by suicide.

FBI director Cash Patel says the shooting is being investigated as an act of

domestic terrorism and a hate crime against Catholics. At this point, police say they don't have

an exact motive, but investigators say the shooter may have been a former student at the school

and her mother used to work there. Authorities are also looking into some pretty horrific social media

posts,

including graphic diary entries, pictures, and video depicting elements of what later happened.

They say all the weapons the shooter used were bought legally. Prayers and condolences have been

coming in from the White House, the Vatican, and all over the community. President Trump

ordered flags around the country to be lowered to half staff all week.
