0:00.0 | Hey everybody, Rob Mauer here, and as I mentioned at the end of yesterday's episode, we are going to be doing live episodes for the rest of this week. |
0:14.0 | Editor Jossum's got some other things going on, so we'll see how the rest of the week goes with the live episodes. |
0:19.0 | But today we're going to be talking about some new information from Kathy Wood and Ark Invest, so they've put out a note following AI Day as you can see on screen there. |
0:27.0 | And then Kathy was also on Bloomberg today, sharing some more thoughts on Tesla. So we'll go through those comments. |
0:33.0 | We've got an update on FSD Beta from Elon Musk. He shared a tweet earlier about a targeted timeline there for the long awaited FSD Beta button. |
0:42.0 | And then we've also got, I think about 50 people sent me this today, but we've got this rant from Sandy Monroe to talk about. |
0:51.0 | I'll share my thoughts on that. Some news on the Chevy Bolt, Lucid, and SpaceX. So we'll go through all that. We'll start off with the Elon Musk tweet and then we'll get an Ark Invest. |
1:01.0 | So in case you didn't see it already, many of you probably have, but Elon Musk sharing out a little while ago about an hour ago, an update on FSD Beta. |
1:10.0 | So he says, quote, somebody asked any update on public FSD Beta Elon says, quote, we should be there with beta 10, which goes out a week from Friday, no point release this week. |
1:19.0 | It will have a completely retrain neural net. So we'll need another few weeks after that for fine tuning, four tuning and bug fixes. Best guess is public beta button in about four weeks. |
1:31.0 | So no 9.3 this Friday, as usual, not as usual, but usually Tesla releases a point release. So 9.3 would have been this Friday every two weeks. |
1:42.0 | It sounds like they're skipping that, but then next week are going to go straight to beta 10. So that's different than what Elon had previously said where it said we'd get 9.3, 9.4, then probably 10, then maybe 10, 1 or 10, 2 would be the beta button or the public release. |
1:59.0 | Which would have put that somewhere in mid October, the last time we calculated that timeline looks like this would be a little bit sooner than what we had previously expected. |
2:07.0 | So obviously with any timeline like this, we have to take it with a bit of a grain of salt. But Elon here is actually moving up the timeline from his last mention of any sort of timeline. |
2:18.0 | And so we'll see. I'm excited regardless for beta 10 to hopefully go out next week. Elon has previously set a lot of updates with that, obviously with it being a whole number release. So we'll see. |
2:30.0 | Okay, so after AI day, we've got new comments here from ARC Invest. We'll just briefly go through this. They put a little quick note out about it. I'm just saying AI day highlighted Tesla's artificial intelligence prowess. No surprise that ARC is probably, you know, pretty impressed and happy with what Tesla talked about at AI day, but they did put this little chart out just showing Tesla's vertical integration. |
2:52.0 | So you can see sort of major categories of computer hardware, AI software, automotive hardware, sales and service. And then some categories within each of those major categories. |
3:02.0 | They show legacy, OEMs, Waymo, Tesla back in 2018 and then Tesla today, just showing how vertically integrated Tesla has become over time. So the purple is marked as vertically integrated green here is outsourced. |
3:15.0 | So Tesla basically taking over each of these important areas for obviously eventually operating, you know, a robot taxi fleet and as well as manufacturing that robot taxi fleet. So I guess the one thing that's not not specifically purple here yet for Tesla would be fleet management, which is not available because Tesla doesn't actually have a robot taxi fleet operating yet, but obviously Tesla would do that eventually. |
3:41.0 | So yeah, that's what I wanted to share from the note. And then Kathy what as I said was on Bloomberg today. So I'm not going to play the clip from it here, but I'll just kind of read a couple of quotes that she said she started off the interview or started off asking Kathy just about, you know, how they're feeling about Tesla after AI day if it's still one of their, you know, high conviction holdings obviously it is, but Kathy answered that saying without a doubt every passing day, especially the more we learn about their AI expertise. |
4:10.0 | And how they're really driving the space so to speak much faster than I think anyone else is right now, we believe they have the pole position and we've increased our estimate here. |
4:20.0 | So her estimate there that they're talking about isn't necessarily their Tesla specific estimate, but she did mention that they've increased their total addressable market for robots, axes as a whole. |
