It's an early election year, and the stakes have never been higher.

We need Catholic minimum government.

this guest also. I know I'm saying this every day of the week. But Stephanie Slade is our guest.

Stephanie is the managing editor at Reason Magazine.

And I've followed her work for, like all of the guests this week, for years.

And Stephanie is an exciting guest to have, particularly in the middle, on the very middle day of Catholic minimum government week, because she, of all of this array on the ideological spectrum of thinkers, she advocates probably the smallest government.

having me. Yeah, great, great work. You're doing there at Reason Magazine. And I want to jump

right into the discussion that seems to the right is now beset by. It's a new discussion.

And I guess it's what you'd call populism, populism writ large.

It's let's go back to a right-wing cultural big government point of view.

People like you and me and pretty much everyone else that I'm interviewing this week, recoil.

Why? Just walk us through why in basic terms.

I think the schism that's opening up on the right over the last couple of years is really along the fault line of liberalism, not left liberalism, of course, but classical liberal

values and institutions that sort of want to protect the individual
