We'll continue our category preview series on this episode with strikeouts.

And as with home runs, the show we did last Saturday, we don't have to like dig or

pretend with this stat, so to speak.

The strikeout is usually the best result of a matchup for a pitcher unless, I know, you

can turn a double play or a triple play.

But it's a great measurement, simple measurement of true individual talent, individual stuff.

The strikeout rate leaders at the end of any season are usually going to be the guys with the best arsenals,

the best ways to attack hitters.

That goes for starters and relievers.

Our focus on this show will mainly be starting pitchers,

but you do, of course, get strikeouts from your relievers

beyond the primary target or mindset of just wanting saves and ratio help from those relievers.

But, yeah, most of the analysis for a reliever is whether that person is going to get

save opportunities right or wrong.

It's just the way it works in fantasy.

Love getting saves and a big strikeout rate from a reliever if you can.

Do you have any initial sort of overarching thoughts on the strikeouts category before we hit on some headlines and then getting into

these starting pitchers?

I mean, strikeouts as a whole were actually down last year, the first time in, I don't know,

four or five years or something, I think.
