Matt's made a name for himself by ticking off these absolutely monstrous rides, self-supported enduro bike packing missions. Matt, I want to first let people know that we first met in New Zealand in Nelson, a racing

the NZ MTV Rally a year and a half ago, where you not only won the race, but you did the whole

thing self-supported, no shuttles, no outside assistance. How did you get into that style of riding?

I wish I knew. I think I'm a lot. How did you get into that style of riding?

I wish I knew.

I think I've always just been stubborn and had the need to make things harder for myself.

And I think I'm quite good at setting my mind to something and just making it happen.

And I think the last few years I've had the ethos of if I think about something twice,

I've got to go and do it.

So that's led to some questionable decisions that also led to me pushing my limits and, yeah, doing some cool things along the way.

You're from Christchurch, New Zealand?

Yeah.

And how did you start mountain biking?

Was it through family or just friends or?

Yeah, so my dad used to bike many years ago.

But then my older sibling got into it at high school,

joined the local Mountain Mike Club.

And then he pulled my dad back into it.
