Drug trafficking by sophisticated criminal networks is a major threat to public safety in the EU. Going after these networks is a top priority for Europol.

In fact, Europol was first established as the Europol Drugs Unit in Strasbourg

way back in 1993. In the almost 30 years that have passed since then, Europol has recorded

several major successes in helping countries track down international drug trafficking rings.

This episode is about one such case, when Europol worked with authorities in Europe, Latin America,

and the United States to derail an organized crime group who were shipping cocaine worldwide.

Cocaine represents the second largest illegal drugs market in Europe, after cannabis.
