There were two more murders 15 miles away in the Silver Lake section of Los Angeles.

On September 16th, 2014, a man was found guilty for crimes that might have never been uncovered had it not been for the decision of a rookie officer to pull over a truck on the highway.

On November 27, 2010, at 9.45 p.m., R.C.MP Constable, Aaron Keller, made what he thought

was a routine traffic stop.

Watching as a truck pulled onto British Columbia Highway 27, speeding erratically,

the rookie constable signaled for the vehicle to pull over

on what he later described as a hunch, one that, at the conclusion of the case, would end with

placing one of Canada's youngest serial killers behind bars. As he walked to the window, Aaron Keller

noticed that the driver, who he suspected of poaching in the backwoods, had what appeared to be blood on his shorts and legs.

Joined by a second RCMP officer at this point, both men began searching the truck and noticed a multi-tool and a wrench completely covered in blood, as well as a monkey

backpack and a wallet containing a children's hospital card with the name Lauren Leslie.

When asked about the blood, the driver, a man named Cody Ledjabakov, told the officers about a

deer he had just clubbed to death, stating

quote, I am a redneck, that's what we do for fun. Whether they bought the lie or not doesn't really matter,

because regardless, Cody was arrested under the Canada Wildlife Act and a conservation officer was

called in to try and find the animal's body.

Instead, they followed the tracks and were led straight to the body of Lauren Dawn Leslie.
