1 Peter chapter 5, verses 6 and 7,

humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God,

so that at the proper time, he may exalt you,

casting all your anxieties on him because He cares for you.

What a word! Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God.

This is a good place to be. It's a good place to live. Humbly under God's mighty hand,

knowing that when we humble ourselves before God, he will exalt us. What a phrase. So that at the proper time, God may

exalt you. God may exalt me. Like, what a picture. It's what we see all throughout Scripture.

Whoever exalts himself will be humbled. He who humbles himself will be exalted. Exalted by who?

By God. This is God,

our Father, who desires to lift us up as we humble ourselves before Him. And what does that

look like? Verse 7. It looks like casting all your anxieties on Him. On a picture of what

humbling yourself before God is, to be humble

before God is to say, God, I trust you with this anxiety and that anxiety, with this that I'm

worried about, with that that I'm worried about, I trust you. I'll humble myself before you.

Because 1st Peter 5-7 says, He cares for you. In other words, he is worthy

of your trust with all your anxieties. Let's pray according to this passage, God. In light of 1st

Peter 5, verse 6 and 7, we pray that you would help us to humble ourselves before you, under your mighty hand,

to cast all our anxieties on you. Can we just do that right now? All the things that come to

your mind right now that you are anxious or worried about, or even prone to be anxious or

worried about. Can you just cast those before God right now specifically?
