In this episode we're providing updates on two historical shows now recently solved by way of DNA technology and genetic genealogy. In the first half of this episode we have recent updates to show 130 where we learned of the brutal rapin murder of Montreal teen Sharon prior.

We can finally answer the question posed in that episode's title who killed Sharon prior. In the second half we go all the way back to episode 13 babes in the woods Stanley Park in that show we learn that in 1953 in Vancouver Stanley Park the skeletal remains of two young boys were found they had been murdered around 1947 with a hatchet that was found nearby their bones the boys identities remained a mystery until 2022 when their names were finally written.

Sharon prior a vibrant 16 year old secondary school student mysteriously vanished on Saturday the 29th of March 1975 from point St. Charles and neighborhood Montreal where she resided with her family. After bidding her mother farewell she set off on foot to rendezvous with her friends at a local pizza.

She had a situation just five blocks away and that was the last occasion that Sharon was seen alive three days following her disappearance on April 1st Sharon severely battered remains were discovered in a field in Longay a different suburb of Montreal situated across the St. Lawrence River from her home.

She had been sexually assaulted and murdered Sharon's family and law enforcement tirelessly pursued her as silent for nearly half a century.

The recent development very recent the identity of Sharon's murder has finally been unveiled before we get into recent updates let's refresh our memories of Sharon's family her life in the crime itself.

Sharon's mother was originally from England but migrated to Montreal as a young girl the family settled in point St. Charles known to the locals simply as the point this area is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods here even encountered George prior who was serving as a private in the Canadian Armed Forces their shared affection blossomed into love leading to marriage they were filled with joy when their first child Sharon Kim prior arrived in the world on February 9th 1915.

Sharon's family was blessed with identical twin sisters a day before she turned to Sharon regarded Maureen and Doreen in her cheerful innocence as her personal birthday gift as his customary with military families George prior was reassigned taking him to Manitoba which meant leaving behind Yvonne's cherished neighborhood of point St. Charles their youngest child George junior was born in Manitoba affectionately known as Joe Joe.

By his family he completed the prior clan my BFF actually lives a literally a few blocks from where this happened wow in in the point yeah so I was talking to her this morning about it.

I thought hey let's get a little bit of background sure it was predominantly an Irish working class neighborhood okay a lot of poverty yeah yep so it was mostly an Anglophone neighborhood back then and Meredith is saying that it started getting gentrified in the 90s like the hipster started coming in sure and she said it's nicer now but it's not the best looking neighborhood it's tiny little row houses okay and we think I think those row houses aren't that bad you know I kind of like them in a way they're not going to be a lot of people.

They have a certain yeah yeah they harken to a certain era yeah there's just not a lot of trees in front of them like I've been in this neighborhood a lot sure and we think maybe Yvonne liked like it because it sort of has a bit of a European feel to it maybe that's what reminded her of it and so now you know you can you can get $9 ice cream cones but at the same time they're still old families and they're still some poverty so it's one of those mixed neighborhoods or gentrification yeah yeah.

There was strife in the relationship between George senior and Yvonne and it became untenable in a 1966 they decided to part ways Yvonne with her four young children made the decision to return to the point although the split was difficult the prior kids kept their heads up in all accounts Sharon is depicted as a gentle kindhearted and giving individual photographs shared on the family maintained website Sharon prior calm back this up.
