The legal case began on the evening of September 27, 2017, when 30-year-old Christopher Grover

was shot in the head by his living girlfriend and mother of his two young children, Nicole Atomando.

This shooting occurred just hours after child protective services opened an investigation

against Christopher due to abuse allegations.

Two young children ages 2 and 4 at the time were sleeping when this event happened.

In their shared apartment in Pekipsi, New York, Nicole Atomando claimed that they had been

lying on the couch after this visit from CPS.

And this is when Christopher Grover threatened to kill her if she left him.

When he fell asleep then, Atomando said that she attempted to leave, but Grover woke up

and pointed a gun at her that he had in the couch cushions, and then he dropped the gun,

she grabbed it and basically shot him while he'd lunged at her.

Atomando told the police that she killed Grover in response to years of torture, both sexually

and physically, but she was arrested for charges of second-degree murder, first and second-degree

manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, charges to which she pled not guilty.
