Really the only thing we want is for him to be in jail to stay in jail because he needs to pay for what he did.

Number one, number two, he will do it again. I do believe that he's a dangerous person and even though he's sitting in jail,

he has family who has enabled him for all of these years to get away with the things that he has done.

Even though he sits in jail, he is eligible to inherit money from his dad.

Now, if he gets convicted of killing Emily, he can't inherit anything from her.

Honestly, I've met his dad and he seemed like a very, very nice man, but knowing that they enabled him with his behavior,

that they could have warned Emily and they didn't. So I have a big issue feeling any sympathy.

We're hoping that he gets at least 15 years. We want him to be an old man when he gets out.

Yesterday, we brought you the first part of Emily Noble's update and shared with you what her friends and loved ones have experienced

and she initially disappeared in May of 2020, to the time that her husband Matt was arrested in June of 2021.

Today, we're diving into what's taken place since Emily was found, as the investigation into her death has continued,

as well as the strange parallels between the details of her death and those of Matt's son Joey,

less than a year before Emily disappeared. I'm Marissa, and from Wondery, this is episode 315 of The Vanished,

After Matt was arrested earlier this year, we went back through our audio archives and listened to the things that he said with a fresh perspective.

When we originally interviewed him, we gave him the benefit of the doubt and tried to view him as a grieving spouse who had lost a son less than a year before his wife disappeared.

We listened again from the standpoint of hearing a man accused of heinous crimes, which you will hear detailed later in the episode when we share some of what was said in the initial court proceedings.

But first, we wanted to hear Matt in his own words again. From back in 2020, when he contacted us for help, just weeks after Emily had vanished.

These are some of the things that he said to us then that stand out to us now as just plain strange, regardless of his guilt or innocence.
