Welcome, ghouls and ghoulettes to the first in a series of the Spooktoba specials, in

case vials dug up, especially to thrill and chill.

Beginning in 1347, the Black Play cut short the lives of nearly 20 million Europeans,

and dire towns wiped out by the devious disease.

One of the hardest hit was the idyllic city of Venice, almost half of the population

of the then city state was exterminated.

In the centuries that followed, Venice, having learned some costly lessons, turned some

of its islands into places of exile and death for those unfortunate enough to be suspected

of contracting the cruel contagion.

One of these islands not only has a history of plague and pestilence, but also, as a legend

goes, was the final stop for many afflicted with maladies of the mind.

This case vials join the furious as they delve into the dead and gondola with grave misgivings

about visiting the Venetian Isola de la Morte, also known as Povellia Island.
