In 2004 the USS Nimitz carrier strike group investigated a group of unusual radar signatures off the coast of southern California. Aircraft from the carrier were deployed to obtain visual confirmation on these craft that had been puzzling the radar operators in the area for the last several days. One of these flights would capture infrared footage of what appeared to be a supremely maneuverable craft that outpaced the combat aircraft sent to intercept it. It would be 13 years until this footage was released alongside a New York Times article that provided insight into the US government’s 5 year long, 20 million dollar investigation into UFOs.
