Missing 411: It is claimed that there may be up to 1,600 cases of disappearances on public lands that defy conventional explanation. Men, women, and children who have vanished from national parks, areas surrounding national forests, and even their own homes never to be seen again. A remarkable number of victims were persons who were familiar with the outdoors, hunters, hikers, and campers. Even those who went into these areas with large groups seemed to vanish into thin air after walking around a corner in the trail or simply stepping off a well-known path. These disappearances seemingly have a long history that ranges as far back as the 1930s.
