29, 2003, in the United Kingdom town of Ultringham, patrons were enjoying a beer in a corner

pub affectionately known as the Fishbowl, due to its large floor-to-sealing glass walls.

It was a stifling hot day by English standards, even for the height of summer. And to the

Fishbowl was the perfect place to escape into air-conditioned comfort and to refresh with

a cold drink. The Fishbowl was situated in Goose Green, and

then claved nestled in a quiet yet fashionable part of Ultringham, a market town in greater

Manchester. The town featured the Red brick buildings

typical of Manchester, filled with independent and artisan businesses, including a Delhi,

a butcher and a cafe. It was frequented by shoppers wanting to get away from

the more sterile, commercialised environment of nearby traffic centre shopping mall.

A brick paved pedestrian square featured a sculpture of a flock of geese at its centre,

surrounded by benches where local workers gathered and enjoyed their lunch in the sunshine.
