What if you don't actually have to fully understand someone in order to be kind to them, in order to care for them?

What if you could just be like, these people are human beings? I want them to be happy.

Blame my quandary on Carval Wallace, a fellow writer and creative, as well as a thinker I have been devouring lately.

He is the curious mind behind a beautiful, beloved podcast series about Mr. Rogers called Finding Fred.

And he writes powerful profiles of artists, actors, and activists like Maharshal Ali, Riz Ahmed, and Steph Curry.

Before writing, Carval spent 15 years working with kids who were incarcerated or in foster care.

Okay, great. So from your last post on Medium, which is how we know each other, it was about love and how it's just impossible to know someone entirely.

And you said, they are a different person with an entire lifetime of differing experiences.

There are not enough quiet late-night talks or long morning walks together in all of your lives on this earth for you to come to understand all of them.

They've experienced this world in a different body, perhaps a different gender, a different class than you.

They grew up in a different place with different parents.
