no more the quarterback has decided to retire after 15 seasons he makes the

announcement with an open letter to fans that reads in part over the years I've

had teammates who decided to hang it up and I would ask them how they knew when

it was time to walk away the answer was almost the same always the same you just

know for me that time is now why quite simply Mark I just know shot no 38

years old tied at the hip with Bruce Ariens and with Ariens departure are you

going to stick around with the Cardinals or go somewhere else have to

completely reboot offensively in terms of scheme and you know you're coming

off multiple injuries over the last couple years for this guy I just think

that Palmer sort of a chill dude to who's kind of ready to say yep I'm ready to

go Southern California boy for sure I mean he made a lot of money he was the

number one overall pick before the rookie draft scale came into effect he was the

highest paid player in the league for a time on his second contract a really good

career top 15 all time in passing yards and and I believe touchdown but

unfortunately I'll kind of remember it for some what ifs you know what if he

doesn't tear his ACL in the 2005 playoffs that was definitely the best

Bengals team of my lifetime I thought they had a chance to make a run at a

Super Bowl that year I think that was also the best he ever played I thought he
