| 0:00.0 | Welcome back to gun talk. I'm Tom Gresham. Glad that you could be with us. Guess what we're doing here. Yeah, we're talking about guns. |
| 0:10.0 | Rifles, pistols, shot guns. We're talking about optics, holsters, gun cases, gun safes. Pretty much anything you have to do with guns. |
| 0:22.0 | The only thing we don't talk about is doing stupid or irresponsible things with guns. We're not that group. We're the good guys and gals. |
| 0:31.0 | The ones you don't really hear a lot about in the news. Yeah, we're firing tens of millions of rounds a day in the US. |
| 0:40.0 | And nobody's paying any attention because we're doing it safely and responsibly. That's okay. If you have any questions, we can help you out. |
| 0:47.0 | Think about buying a gun by all means. If you're considering this is the year that may be, you need to get training. Boy, are you in the right place? Let me tell you because we got an awful lot of people in a lot of states now where you don't even have to get a permit. |
| 1:03.0 | You don't have to take a class. You don't have to do anything. And it's legal for you to carry a gun conceal for your own protection. |
| 1:11.0 | And while I've always said it's a good idea to get training, I also don't believe it's government's responsibility or they're right. I don't even think I have the power to require you to do any of that. I think there's a violation of the second amendment. |
| 1:27.0 | Somebody who knows a lot about this and would like to talk to you anyway is a good friend Chad Winkler. He's from Boondocks Firearms Training Academy in Mississippi. Hey, Chad, how are you, sir? |
| 1:38.0 | I'm well, Tom. Thanks for having me. You're bad. We got all these people. I mean, in Boondocks, you guys run a really great training facility. I would recommend it to anybody who's looking for firearms training. |
| 1:48.0 | We got all these people in all these states that are constitutional carry now where they don't have to go take a class. They don't have to do anything. They can just start carrying. |
| 1:57.0 | And while you and I both celebrate the ability to exercise the right, I don't know what I'm going to guess that you share my concern and would urge people to get training on their own. |
| 2:10.0 | Yeah, I agree with that. I mean, I'm 100% with you on the fact that the government should not mandate training because you have millions of people out there that, you know, to spend $100 or $200 for a permit or $200 for a class. |
| 2:24.0 | And that kind of stuff is quite restrictive. And to be able to have a firearm on their person to protect themselves is something that is very important. |
| 2:32.0 | And I don't think the government should dictate when or how you can do that. But I do think that, you know, as if you are having a firearm as part of your overall protection plan that you should consider getting training because there's a big difference between knowing how to shoot a gun and then knowing how to shoot a gun to protect yourself and your family to bend yourself in your family. |
| 2:53.0 | What's the difference? |
| 2:55.0 | Well, for example, if you look at some of the stuff from the what happens in these actual self defense cases, you know, Tom Givens has got a huge database of students that have been in gun fights. |
| 3:06.0 | And if you look at his statistics, you'll see that a lot of those things happen in three to five seconds. So the entire event is over in three to five seconds. |
| 3:15.0 | And you've been to gun site. They have a kind of thing to say after they're 250 class. If you're more than two seconds away from getting your hands on your gun, you've missed the point of class. |
| 3:27.0 | So let's say your firearm is on you or you close to you and it takes you two seconds to get to the gun. |
| 3:34.0 | Well, if the whole event is over in three to five seconds, that means you're going to be shooting four or five rounds in a second. |
| 3:40.0 | And a lot of people don't actually practice shooting at that speed. They don't the range. They shoot, you know, five or six or ten rounds, you know, slow fire type stuff. |
