A lot of talk about 4-3 versus 3-4 and all that.

I mean, tell me why those numbers even matter these days in college football.

Why it even matters when you talk about Jay Bateman's style of defense?

Short answer is it doesn't.

Partly because nobody's in 3-4 or 4-3 personnel in terms of seven front-7 guys,

or very few teams are in, you know, 4-3, traditional three, three, four personnel front seven,

uh, most of the time anyway.

Everybody either has a couple hybrids up front in some way or an extra defensive back going basically base nickel because so many teams are basing out

of spread formations when you've got extra receivers on the field,

if you're going to stick three defensive linemen out there and four

traditional linebackers out there, you're going to have some trouble.

Same thing with four D-Lyline and three traditional linebackers.
