carolina that is rick steinbacher steiny what's up how much johns great to be here with you and adam

in pod world headquarters as always yeah you know it glad to have rick here with us adam uh episode

two of the show and we're diving into some numbers today we're just trying to figure out some details, some process, some what's happened so far, what's going to happen going forward.

Rick has been involved in this for a significant length of time, which he's going to tell us about.

Rick, tell us where we are and how we got here.

Sure.

You know, Adam, we're a couple years into really studying what's best for the future of the Smith Center.

I think we've developed a really good kind of charge or mission statement.

Let's do what's best for Carolina basketball while maximizing what it provides to the Carolina

Athletics Department and the university community.

So I think we've got a really clear North Star.

We've got six kind of priorities and objectives that will tell us if we delivered on that or not.

Those are probably the two easy parts.

From there, we've identified what are the options that still make sense today.

And now we're really just trying to provide the best possible information to ultimately make a great decision. One of the highlights

of my life was playing a football game at West Point, and they've got a cadet prayer up there.

And part of that prayer is make us choose the hard, right decision, not the easy, wrong decision.

A lot of decisions in life, it's pretty easy to know what's right or wrong. This one's a lot harder.

There's just so many factors at play.
