Carolina basketball was back playing for the title,

this time against a powerful Georgetown Hoya team

in a game which featured some of the biggest names in college basketball history.

Coaches Dean Smith and John Thompson and players James Worthy, Sam Perkins and Michael

Jordan for Carolina, Patrick Ewing and Sleepy Floyd for Georgetown.

The Tar heels used some late game heroics by two all-time greats, Jordan and Worthy, to secure

Coach Smith's first national championship.
