0:37.8	excuse me, July 22nd, 2020, a year ago, I tweeted out, there has never been as sustained, prolonged
0:47.4	attack on small business as we've seen in 2020. And lo and behold, a brilliant woman, who many of
0:55.5	you know by the name of Carol Roth, released a book with that title called The War on Small Business.
1:03.4	I have not read it yet. I cannot wait to read it. I have to finish this book about Stalin first,
1:09.5	which is probably going to be somewhat of an easy segue, because we saw the liquidation of the
1:13.7	Kulaks here in 2020 by the state. Carol, thank you so much for taking the time. My pleasure. Thank
1:20.3	you so much for having me. And I am so excited for our discussion. So let's give you the softball
1:26.2	question. Okay, COVID is a pandemic. It affects every country on earth. You want grandma to die.
1:34.3	This isn't a war on small business. What 2020 was was a war to save lives. And if the cost is
1:41.8	some people are out of work, if the choice is being out of work or not having a life, it's not a
1:48.1	hard choice. Governor Cuomo, in fact, made that exact comparison during a press conference,
1:52.5	somewhat sarcastically. It doesn't sound unreasonable. What is wrong with that line of thinking?
1:58.0	First, I am a grammar killer. No, just kidding. I'm not a grammar killer. So the issue is that in
2:05.8	2020, you had a situation where the government decided who was essential and who was not essential,
2:12.8	who was going to thrive, who was going to fight to survive, and it was not based on data,
2:18.3	and it was not based on science, it was based on political clout and connections. And by doing this,
2:26.4	they enabled this gigantic transfer of wealth from Main Street to Wall Street. I mean, if you
2:33.8	wanted to say, okay, we needed to lock some of the people down, because let's be clear, we didn't
2:39.3	lock everyone down. If you really thought we needed lockdowns, like Amazon's warehouse didn't
2:43.9	lock down, the weed dispensary that was illegal a couple years ago didn't lock down. It was essential.
