In today's episode, we will be talking about the history of Carlos La Sombra and the Proderecho del Confinado Association,

Carlos Torre Irialte, better known as Carlos La Sombra, born on October 8, 1945 in Río Piedras Puerto Rico.

His mother was murdered by her father in 1957 and since the 13 years began to have problems with authorities.

He says that in that time, being a teenager, Carlos belonged to a gang called Jester's, from the Río Piedras' village.

In those times, he was passing by and coming out of the prison because of major drugs,

until at the end of the 1970s he was arrested in the Penitentiary of Río Piedras, better known as the Oso Blanco.

When he arrived at the prison, Carlos observed the maltrato that he suffered the new prisoners by hand from the most old confinados

and also from some of the penalties that they used for them and punished them unjustly.

Carlos felt that even the confinados had rights and they deserved minimal conditions that guaranteed their dignity and security.

Being in the prison, Carlos founded the association Proverechos del Confinado, that is, the Nieta Association.
