So for me and my friends who were growing up in the 1970s, there were two words that would make our

heart's leap. Monster week. You see, because our local channel, a TV channel, every now and then

would set aside a week where every afternoon we could come home from grade school

and there would be a Japanese monster movie on.

And this was heaven.

We'd watch Godzilla, but you know, you have to go past Godzilla

to fill up five days of afternoon movies.

And one monster would be more ridiculous than the next, you know,

so there would be giant moths that shot lightning bolts out of their wings. But for me,

my favorite monster, in my opinion, the most ridiculous monster was Gamera.
