Welcome to another episode of Why Are You Laughing, a history of comedy podcast.

And today, I'm pleased to introduce to you the great Carl Reiner, a man who's had

a historic career.

I don't know that I would say he's at the forefront of people's minds,

particularly like my generation.

When you think of old greats, even his good buddy Mel Brooks and Norman Lear,

who we'll talk about in a second, probably come to mind before Carl Reiner.

And maybe even some people think of Rob Reiner before Carl Reiner.

But if that's true, it's a shame

because Carl Reiner is a true legend of the game and has had some great moments that we

will discuss. And I mentioned Norman Lear, too, that before we get into anything, I want to

address that as we record this, it was just announced a couple hours ago. Norman Lear passed

away at 101 years old by the time you guys are listening to this. I'm sure you've already heard.
