but when the Brooklyn Nets were trying to rebuild and they didn't have any draft picks,

they did something very interesting about a decade ago.

They would absorb bad contracts to get draft picks.

In fact, they're still doing that, where they would take back a bad contract.

They would use their salary cap space as a weapon to add to their draft load.
