Summary

This video is a review of the Canon G5x. This is a new top-of-the-line compact camera from Canon, but does it match up to the hype? You can see footage from this camera in my 2 previous videos shot in Los Angeles. The Canon G5 X was the only camera used in both videos. All footage was shot with a flat color profile as described here. Post color grading was done in Davinci Resolve. 0:19.1	already thinking to yourself my God Ted what is your deal with compact cameras?
0:23.0	Well, having compact cameras is a real essential part of how I work.
0:27.0	I obviously do these videos and I do a lot of them.
0:29.4	So having something that is small and portable,
0:31.6	I don't have to lug around a DSL,
0:34.0	being able to have image stabilization that's pretty good.
0:36.9	You know, things like this last weekend
0:38.8	when I went to Los Angeles in the last two videos I did
0:41.2	where I interviewed John Free on the street or I bumped
0:44.0	into Alexi Teterrenko at Classic Photographs LA and to be able to just kind of do
0:48.3	video impromptu like that and have a camera that I can flip back and forth with
0:52.3	doing stills with as well is really important to me because it reduces the amount of stuff I have to carry around and it actually enables me to do more with it.
1:00.0	And so for that reason, I've been really excited about compact cameras,
1:03.2	because I think in the last five years,
1:04.7	we've gotten to a point where the image quality
1:06.4	and what you're able to do with them is pretty good.
1:09.0	And it's going to be interesting to see what comes up.
1:11.2	I don't think we have a perfect camera yet, but I do want to take a look at the Canon G5X because there's a lot of good things that I think you can say about this.
1:18.0	The Canon G5X is one of five cameras that Canon offers right now that feature one inch sensors.
1:23.4	The other two that I'm most familiar with that I can compare this to are the G7X and the G9X.
