Hi, everybody. Welcome back to the Be There in Five podcast. I'm Kate Kennedy, your host. I usually record with, like,

roaring fire on my screen. Love the cozy factor, but honestly it was too triggering today.

I have just returned from the hottest week of my life. And now I know there's nothing less

likable than complaining about being in the south of France, but that is not what I'm complaining

about. First of all, there's a heat wave happening across the nation. And I implore you to go inside

if you're listening to this outside.

Truly the audacity of kids to always want to be outside. I honestly can't believe how much

I'm forced to be outside. The thing about us with an Irish complexion and blood vessels far

too close to the surface of our face is that our body tells on us, like if you grow up the kid

who despite everybody doing the same amount of aerobic exercise on the playground or worse, the black top, kill me.

Why make the top, like asphalt black when we scientifically know it absorbs heat much more severely?

Whatever.

I have a lot of opinions about playground choices.

Like the fact that, you know, kids are now in booster seats to like age 10 or something,

but like playgrounds have metal slides. Like you were you're pan frying your children.

Why aren't we doing something about this? Yeah. I guess since I've had a kid, I've now outside a lot more.

And now that I'm outside, I have a lot of hot takes about being outside that, you know,

I don't know if everyone in the outside world is already talking about playground equipment

being hot, but like it's crazy to me.

Also, the like three, four level towers of, on a play set that just have these

gaps of bars and it's a straight, I'm like, you were, you were asking kids to like base jump off

of this. Like, what are you doing? Anyway, did I already tell you guys that got really into base jumping documentaries recently?
