It's yet another fight the government could not win.

The might of a hard-blind conservative anti-drug policy was rendered useless last week by Charlotte Caldwell,

the mother of 12-year-old Billy, who suffers from a particularly virulent form of epilepsy.

She says he needs cannabis oil to save his life. They told her she couldn't have it.

In fact, they went as far as to take it off her at Heathrow airport, having flown back from Canada with it. But after a standoff of a few days, they

relented. And now it looks like cannabis for medicinal use is all but legal in the United

Kingdom. Now, former Tory leader William Haig is calling for the legalisation of cannabis

for all recreational use as well, saying the war has basically already been lost. It's pretty hard
