Gahey, humans. Welcome to the safe space for dangerous ideas. And just how dangerous does an idea

have to be before you refuse to speak with the person expressing that idea? This is something I think

about a lot on this show. If you're just joining this show for the first time, it's a place where

we have

conversations about some of the most controversial and provocative issues that are difficult to talk

about, where usually we find ourselves treading on eggshells or worrying about triggering tripwires.

But we're not out here to intentionally provoke or to place gotcha questions and, you know,

try to misrepresent people. We're trying to

actually push back and understand what people really think about some of the most controversial

issues of the 21st century. And in that spirit, Candice Owens is someone who I struggled with for a while

to figure out whether or not I should allow on the show. She's an American political commentator and pundit, one of the most popular people on the

internet, or at least the most seen people on the internet, probably half of the people

who are following her and watching her, are hate watching.

She was initially critical of President Trump.

She was initially critical of the Republican Party, but she was also critical

of Black Lives Matter and of the way we've come to talk about race. And that got her noticed

by a lot of people, including Kanye, who became a fan of hers. She became the communications

director of the Conservative Advocacy Group, Turning Point USA. She joined Ben Shapiro's conservative news website,

The Daily Wire. She got her own streaming television talk show called Candace. And that all fell

apart in March of 2024. After she said some anti-Semitic things.

Now, Ben Shapiro is an Orthodox Jew.

They had a falling out, and there'd been months of tensions between Candace and the Daily Wire.
